Often in your Google Analytics reports you will want to see how user behaviour differs across different platforms. This article shows you how to create segments that break your audience down into Android, iOS and Web users in your reports. *These segments are applicable to Pugpig Publish customers*
Steps
- Click on +Add Segment then select +NEW SEGMENT
Then create the following three segments:
Android Traffic (by version)
- Name your segment something like 'Android Traffic (by version)' and then under Advanced > Conditions add the condition App Version contains 'Android PP'.
- Or click here to import this segment directly to your Property
iOS Traffic (by version)
- Name your segment something like 'iOS Traffic (by version)' and then under Advanced > Conditions add the condition App Version contains 'iOS PP'.
- Or click here to import this segment directly to your Property
Web Traffic (by version)
- Name your segment something like 'Web Traffic (by version)' and then under Advanced > Conditions add the condition App Version contains 'Web PP'.
- Or click here to import this segment directly to your Property
Now you have created your new segments these can be applied to any reports on the Google Analytics dashboard:
We suggest using these segments to break your reports down by platform rather than the standard ones created by Google Analytics like 'Android Traffic' as these don't take into account the fact that users might be accessing your web application on an Android or iOS device. The segments above make it clear what version of your app users are accessing content on and what platform they are on.
